Planned Itinerary: DAY 1. CITY OF ORIGIN – FRANKFURT Welcome to Germany. Transfer to the hotel and free time. In the afternoon, you will receive information about the start of your tour via the information boards located in the hotel reception. Overnight stay. DAY 2. FRANKFURT – RHINE CRUISE – COLOGNE – DORTMUND Today we explore the Rhine and Moselle valleys. Two rivers steeped in history and dotted with charming villages. We include a short Rhine cruise between the villages of Rüdesheim and St. Goar; undoubtedly the most picturesque section of the Rhine. Afterward, we explore the Moselle River. Time for lunch in Cochem, a picturesque town on the banks of the Rhine, dominated by its imposing castle, whose origins date back more than a thousand years. Afterward, we travel to Cologne. Time to visit its impressive Gothic cathedral, which, at 154 meters tall, was the tallest building in the world until the end of the 19th century. You can also stroll along the Rhine River and through the lively city center. Overnight stay. DAY 3. DORTMUND – FAIRY TALE TRAIL – HANOVER Today we'll have a magical day, revisiting many of the stories and films from our childhood as we explore some of the villages that inspired the Brothers Grimm and that make up what is now known as the Fairy Tale Trail. We'll travel to TRENDELBURG, a picturesque walled village dominated by its grand medieval castle. We'll visit the castle with its RAPUNZEL TOWER (entrance included). We'll continue along small roads, passing through forests while imagining Hansel and Gretel. Time for lunch in HOXTER, a small, vibrant town where you'll find Corvey Abbey (entrance included), a former 9th-century monastery and UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Polle, we'll visit the ruins of Cinderella's Castle (entrance included). We then continue to Hamelin, a town famous for the tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. After enjoying following the tracks of the rats, we proceed to Hanover with time for a stroll past the old town hall. Overnight stay. DAY 4. HANOVER – GOSLAR – GÖTINGEN – BAD SOODEN – EISENACH After breakfast, we travel to the Rammelsberg Mines, a silver mining center near Goslar that was exploited since the Middle Ages and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entrance to the museum about this mine is included. Afterward, we head to Goslar, with its magnificent medieval old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is known for its half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, and the majestic St. Peter's Church. We continue to Göttingen, an important university and scientific center where the Brothers Grimm lived. We will have time for lunch and a stroll through its historic center. In the afternoon, we travel towards Thuringia, with a stop in Bad Sooden, a small and picturesque spa town nestled in the mountains, magnificently preserved. Then, we continue to Eisenach, a city with a magnificent Baroque and Renaissance historic center, home to the house of the composer Bach and the house of Martin Luther. Dinner included. Overnight stay. DAY 5. EISENACH – GOTHA – ERFURT – LEIPZIG We begin the day by visiting the impressive Wartburg Castle (entrance included), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German. Afterward, we continue to Eisenach. Later, we will have free time for lunch and a walk in the city. If you enjoy music, you can visit Bach's house or the automobile museum, where you can see many vintage vehicles. We continue to Gotha, where we can admire its immense Baroque palace (exterior visit only) and its classic old town. In Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, we will explore a vibrant city, with its grand cathedral and old town, which includes a beautiful medieval bridge inhabited for over 500 years. We will arrive in Leipzig in the late afternoon, one of Germany's richest cities in history and culture, where the composers Bach and Wagner lived, a major industrial center during the GDR era, and which today has over half a million inhabitants. Overnight stay. DAY 6. LEIPZIG – DRESDEN – BAMBERG – NUREMBERG Leaving Leipzig, we will stop at the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, inaugurated in 1913 and standing 91 meters tall, which commemorates a famous battle of the Napoleonic Wars. We continue to Dresden, the capital of Saxony, known for its Baroque and Renaissance architecture, palaces, and beautiful walks along the Elbe River. We then proceed to Bavaria. Arrival in Bamberg, a beautiful and vibrant city; be sure to stroll through Little Venice. We continue to Nuremberg, Bavaria's second-largest city, steeped in history, where we suggest visiting the site of Hitler's Colosseum. Overnight stay. DAY 7. NUREMBERG – WELTENBURG CATHEDRAL – DACHAU – MUNICH Today's leg holds many surprises; from Kelheim, we embark on a short cruise through the Danube Valley, in the Danube Gorges region. We arrive at Weltenburg Monastery, a beautiful Benedictine monastery founded in 1040. We continue to Dachau, where we visit the museum about the Nazi concentration camp. Time for lunch. In the early afternoon, we arrive in Munich and visit the impressive BMW Welt (BMW World), a state-of-the-art, multifunctional exhibition center belonging to the BMW Group, the prestigious German automotive brand. We also visit the park where the architecturally stunning Olympiastadion is located, the site of the famous 1972 Olympic Games. Afterward, you'll have free time in the historic center. You can stroll through Marientplatz, the heart of Munich, explore the picturesque Viktualienmarkt open-air market, relax in the English Garden, or enjoy a beer in one of its traditional beer halls. Overnight stay. DAY 8. MUNICH – FÜSSEN – ROTHENBURG – FRANKFURT. Amidst towering Alpine peaks and breathtaking scenery, we arrive in FÜSSEN, home to Neuschwanstein Castle. We'll take a bus up to Mary's Bridge to admire the fantastic views of the canyons visible from this vantage point. From here, you can return on foot or by horse-drawn carriage (not included). Afterward, following the Romantic Road, we travel to Rothenburg, a charming walled city where we include entrance to the beautiful Christmas Museum. We continue to Frankfurt, Germany's financial capital. Overnight stay. DAY 9. FRANKFURT – HOME CITY After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home, if this service has been booked through us.
