Planned Itinerary: DAY 1. CITY OF ORIGIN – TOKYO Welcome to Japan! Transfer by shuttle bus to your hotel. Free time. You will receive information in the afternoon regarding the start of your tour. Overnight stay. DAY 2. TOKYO In the morning, we will take an extensive tour, approximately five hours, with our guide through this simply breathtaking city! Its frenetic activity and cutting-edge neighborhoods coexist with peaceful areas. We will make a brief stop at Zojoji Temple to photograph the most beautiful view of Tokyo Tower. The hundreds upon hundreds of Jizo statues, stone deities considered guardians of children, adorned with wool hats, bibs, and windmills, are a highlight. Then we will head to the famous Shibuya Crossing, said to be the busiest intersection in the world. We will visit Meiji Shrine, dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife. We will continue our bus tour along the elegant Omotesando Avenue. We will tour the most beautiful part of the Imperial Palace and its gardens. We will stop to visit the famous Nijubashi Bridge. We will cross through the Akihabara district, the Electric Town, the center of Japanese manga and anime; we will pass by the Kokugikan, the Sumo stadium, home to Japan's national sport. We will end our tour in Asakusa, visiting Sensoji Temple and the famous Nakamise Street. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel. We will meet our guide in the hotel lobby and take the subway (tickets included) to the Shinjuku area. We will then take a stroll to a restaurant to discover this area, which boasts a vibrant nightlife. Dinner is included at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel by subway, accompanied by our guide. Overnight stay. DAY 3. TOKYO – MOUNT FUJI – KAWAGUCHIKO We travel towards the beautiful Mount Fuji area. Beautiful scenery along our route. We begin our visit at Arakuryama Sengen Park, with its beautiful pagodas, offering some of the best and most famous views of Mount Fuji. Afterward, we continue to Kawaguchiko, an idyllic town of small houses, flowers, and mountains nestled beside its beautiful lake. Upon arrival, we'll visit Fuji Sengen Shrine, a magical place where, among towering trees, the traditional pilgrimage to the mountain began. We'll offer our thanks at the shrine for the opportunity to visit this enchanting location. Following this, we'll enjoy a pleasant boat ride on Lake Kawaguchiko. Then, we'll begin our ascent of Mount Fuji along the road that leads to the fifth station. Passing through spectacular forests and breathtaking views, we'll reach an altitude of 2,305 meters. We'll return to Kawaguchiko, where you'll have time to stroll along the lake. We'll stay in a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), where you can enjoy its onsen (hot spring bath). Dinner is included. Overnight stay. DAY 4. KAWAGUCHIKO – IYASHI-NO-SATO NENBA – TOYOTA – KYOTO In the morning, following a beautiful road that winds around lakes, we visit IYASHI NO SATO NENBA. This small village was destroyed by a cyclone in 1966 and was later restored as an open-air museum—a traditional mountain village. Its typical houses have been transformed into craft shops, restaurants, and traditional museums. Afterward, we admire the Shiraito Falls, considered one of the most beautiful in Japan, with its 20-meter drop. We then continue to the Nagoya region, including admission to the Toyota Museum, a must-see for car enthusiasts. We continue to Kyoto and check into our hotel. Overnight stay. DAY 5. KYOTO We will have the entire day in the city that was the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868, housing the Imperial Court. During World War II, this city was the only major Japanese city that was not bombed, and for this reason, it preserves its rich artistic heritage. The Kyoto Protocol, which aims to limit greenhouse gas emissions, was signed in Kyoto in 1997. We will include a visit to the city's main attractions. During the visit, we will explore Arashiyama and see the Togetsukyo Bridge, which means "bridge across the moon," offering a breathtaking panorama. We will visit Tenryuji, one of Kyoto's five great Zen temples and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then stroll through its mystical bamboo forest. We will also visit the magnificent Fushimi Inari Shrine. The Imperial Palace and Kinkakuji Temple, the Golden Pavilion with its magnificent gardens (the order of the sites visited may be changed). Afterwards, some free time before a stroll through Gion, the traditional district full of life and famous for its geisha. Free time. Overnight stay. DAY 6. KYOTO – NARA – OSAKA We depart for Nara and visit Todaiji, a magnificent Buddhist temple built in 752. Highlights include the giant Buddha, and you'll find it delightful to photograph, pet, and feed the deer that roam its grounds. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we'll visit Horyuji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This complex includes a seminary, monasteries, and temples. Its main pagoda is one of the oldest surviving wooden buildings in the world and is considered the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, making it an important place of worship. We continue to Osaka, arriving in the early afternoon. Overnight stay in this modern city, the second largest in Japan. We'll take a stroll through Dotonbori, a district brimming with lights and activity at night. Overnight stay. DAY 7. OSAKA – HIMEJI – KORAKUEN GARDENS – OKAYAMA We'll depart for HIMEJI, including entrance to its immense castle, a showcase of traditional Japanese castle architecture. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. We continue to OKAYAMA, where we'll visit Korakuen, one of Japan's most beautiful gardens, with its lakes, waterfalls, and traditional teahouses. A pedestrian bridge over the river will take us to Okayama Castle, a 16th-century Japanese fortification in Okayama. Rebuilt in 1966, the complex was destroyed during a bombing raid in World War II (interior castle visit not included). After the visit, we'll check into our hotel and enjoy free time in the city, a bustling provincial capital with a population of just over 700,000. Overnight stay. DAY 8. OKAYAMA – KURASHIKI – ITSUKUSHIMA – HIROSHIMA We depart for KURASHIKI, a city with a beautifully preserved historic center. Enjoy free time to stroll through this charming town and soak up its old-world atmosphere. We then continue to HIROSHIMA, a city tragically known for the atomic bombing of 1945 that devastated it. We will visit the Peace Memorial, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the impressive Peace Memorial Museum. After the war, we seek peace. We then board a ferry to Itsukushima Island, where humans and gods coexist, and visit the Itsukushima Shrine, dedicated to the guardian of the seas, partially built over the water. Enjoy time to visit the shrine, explore its beautiful center, and have lunch. Return to our hotel in Hiroshima. Dinner included. Overnight stay. DAY 9. HIROSHIMA – MATSUYAMA Today we take a ferry to Shikoku Island, a very pleasant two-and-a-half-hour crossing that will give us a better understanding of Japan, a country made up of many islands. In Matsuyama, we'll take the cable car up to its impressive castle. Afterward, we'll visit Ishiteji, a beautiful Buddhist temple and pilgrimage site. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. In the late afternoon, we'll include entrance to Dogo Onsen, a traditional Japanese bathhouse built in the 19th century. Overnight stay. DAY 10. MATSUYAMA – KOTOHIRA – TAKAMATSU – NARUTO – KOBE We'll depart for Kotohira, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the God of Sailors, a pilgrimage site built on Mount Zosu, accessible by climbing 785 steps. Later, in Takamatsu, we'll visit Ritsurin, one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. After that, in Naruto, an impressive bridge crosses the sea. We'll stop to admire the structure and walk across its glass floor, taking in the breathtaking swirling waves 45 meters above the water. Our drive continues along a scenic route, crossing large bridges between islands over the sea. Arrival in Kobe. Overnight stay. DAY 11. KOBE – OSAKA – MOUNT KOYA In Kobe, we visit the Earthquake Memorial Museum, a place that serves to commemorate the tragic earthquake that devastated the city in 1995 and its remarkable reconstruction. Note: On certain dates, admission to the Earthquake Museum may be substituted with a visit to the Sake Museum or a climb to Kobe Tower. Continue to Osaka. We depart the city for Mount Koya, the most important center of Shingon Buddhism in Japan. On this mountain, a magical place of pilgrimage, there are 120 temples and monasteries. We will visit the Okuno Mausoleum, a spiritual site and immense cemetery in nature with more than 200,000 graves. We will also visit Kongobuji Temple, built in 1593. Tonight we will stay at a Buddhist monastery. The monks will lead us in a Zen meditation practice (Ajikan). Dinner is included (vegetarian). If you wish, you can attend the temple's religious ceremony before breakfast. Overnight stay. DAY 12. MOUNT KOYA – KYOTO. Japanese breakfast at the temple. We will depart early for Kyoto, where you will have the entire day free. Our guide will provide information so you can explore this beautiful city on your own. Overnight stay. DAY 13. KYOTO – TSUMAGO – MATSUMOTO – NAGANO We travel through beautiful rural landscapes to TSUMAGO, a small wooden village, one of the prettiest villages in Japan. Free time for a stroll. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. We then continue to MATSUMOTO, a tourist city where we visit its impressive 16th-century castle, known as the Crow Castle. We continue to NAGANO. Overnight stay. DAY 14. NAGANO – MONKEY PARK – KUSATSU – IKAHO In NAGANO, we visit Zenko-ji, a pilgrimage site where the first Buddhist image in Japan is located. We will include the Gomakuyo ceremony for our travelers to attract good fortune. After that, we venture into the beautiful Japanese Alps, traveling among high mountains to Jigokudani Monkey Park. Lunch is included, and we'll stroll through its forests, rivers, and hot springs where colonies of Japanese macaques live and bathe. Later, we'll enjoy stunning high-mountain scenery (reaching 2,172 meters) and pass by semi-active volcanoes. We'll then visit Kusatsu, an attractive hot spring town, with its lively central square. Afterward, we'll take a walk in the town park, which features open-air onsen (hot spring baths). We continue to Ikaho, a picturesque hot spring town, where we'll wander through its old town with its stepped streets. We'll stay in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn, where we suggest enjoying the baths. A traditional Japanese dinner is included. Overnight stay. DAY 15. IKAHO – NIKKO – TOKYO We continue to Nikko, where we will visit the impressive Nikko-Toshogu Shrine, famous for its Dragon's Roaring Hall. We will also visit the Taiyuinbyo Mausoleum, set in a stunning and peaceful location. We will take a stroll along the river in Kanmangafuchi, where hundreds of Jizo statues will be watching over us! We will have some free time in the city center before departing for Tokyo. Arrival in Tokyo in the afternoon. Overnight stay. DAY 16. TOKYO – HOME CITY After breakfast, if you have booked our airport transfer service, we will take you at the agreed time to catch your flight back to your home city.
